A young, uncertain girl, born into a dark empire, cautiously explores her father's palatial manor when she finds herself unattended. It is so rare that the eunuchs wander off and leave her any privacy... she knows there are many secrets in the manor, but is almost entirely unaware of the dangers of discovery.

Will she stumble across the chamber where her mother is held captive? Will she choose paths of light - the way of her mother's people, or darkness - as her father's people endlessly pursue it?

So many possibilities, so many dangers, all lying in wait before her unwitting steps...
